The film contains mild anti-corporate commentary through Umbrella’s exploitation, contamination, and abandonment of a declining company town, but this primarily serves the horror conspiracy. Any contemporary class or Rust Belt parallels remain brief and secondary to zombies, survival, and video-game adaptation.
